Logging time

There are two ways to log time in belsimple: single entry mode and the weekly timesheet grid. Both are accessed from the Time entries page.

Single entry mode

Use single entry mode when you want to log a specific entry with full details.

  1. Go to Time entries and select the Single entry tab.
  2. Click New entry.
  3. Select a task — use the search box to find your task by name, or browse recently used tasks and favourites.
  4. Pick a date — past, present, or future dates are all allowed.
  5. Enter duration — fill in hours and minutes separately. There’s no timer; just enter how long you spent.
  6. Add a description (optional) — a free-text field where you can note what you worked on. Helpful if your manager needs detail for reporting.
  7. Click Save.

You can log multiple entries for the same task on the same day — for example, if you worked on it in the morning and afternoon.

Weekly timesheet grid

The weekly timesheet grid gives you a view of your entire week — tasks as rows, days as columns. It’s the fastest way to fill in your time.

  1. Go to Time entries and select the Weekly timesheet tab.
  2. Use the week navigation arrows to move between weeks.
  3. Each row represents a task that has entries for the selected week.
  4. Click Add task to add a task row using search, recent tasks, or favourites.
  5. Click any cell (intersection of task and day) to enter or edit the duration.
  6. In the edit dialog, you can also update the description.

Cell behaviour

  • Enter a duration — creates or updates the entry for that task and day.
  • Clear a cell — deletes the entry for that task and day. Other tasks on the same day are not affected.
  • Enter zero — creates a zero-duration entry (a placeholder). This is not the same as clearing.

Tips

  • Fill in your timesheet daily or at the end of each day — it’s much easier to remember what you worked on.
  • Use descriptions to help your manager understand what you worked on.
  • The weekly view shows totals per day and per task, so you can quickly spot gaps.
