Tasks

The Tasks page shows every task in your organisation as a tree. You log time against these tasks, so this is where you go to find the right one — or to add one that doesn’t exist yet.

Finding a task

Tasks are nested, often several levels deep, so a project’s work packages sit under the project itself:

Project Alpha
  ├── Work package 1
  │ ├── Literature review
  │ └── Experimental setup
  └── Work package 2
      └── Data analysis

You can log time against any task in the tree, whether it’s a whole project or a single activity underneath it. Use the filter box to search by name rather than expanding branches by hand.

Creating a task

If you’re working on something that isn’t in the tree yet, add it:

  1. Click New task.
  2. Enter a title and, if it helps, a description.
  3. Optionally pick a parent task so it sits in the right place.
  4. Click Save.

You don’t need to ask a manager first. Your manager can move, rename, or archive tasks later if the structure needs tidying, and can also assign the classifications that decide how your time is reported.

Favourites

Favourites let you bookmark the tasks you work on most often. Favourited tasks appear at the top of the task selector, making it quick to add them to your weekly timesheet or log a new entry.

  • Star a task — on the Tasks page, click the star icon next to any task. Or use the star in the task selector when creating a time entry.
  • Unstar a task — click the star icon again to remove it from your favourites.

Favourites are personal — only you see your own favourites. Each user can have their own set.

How much time a task has taken

Click the Time totals (clock) icon on any task row to see the hours logged against it, broken down by team member. Click Compute to fill in the results.

Turn on Include subtasks to count everything underneath the task as well, which is how you see the total for a whole work package rather than a single activity. You can also narrow the totals to a date range.
